Rifts Collectors Edition from Palladium
I searched for "Rifts Collectors Edition Palladium" in Google today and found several products that seem to be vying for that particular phrase. Palladium has published at least two versions of a collector's edition rulebook, and there's been at least one videogame with a similar title that caused confusion for at least one customer. I'll provide some commentary on each of these products below.
Palladium Rifts Collector's Edition Core Rulebook
I saw a copy of the Palladium Rifts Collector's Edition Core Rulebook on eBay. It was in pretty rough shape, judging from the picture, but the price was still $25. I'm assuming it's an out of print edition, as I couldn't find a new copy of it for sale on Palladium's site. It has a black hardcover and silver lettering.
I found a listing for the Palladium Rifts Collector's Edition Core Rulebook on Troll and Toad, too, and it listed the copyright date as 1995. They didn't have any copies available for sale when I accessed the site.
When I visited the main site for Palladium and did a search for "collector's edition," I only found three titles with that search:
- Rifts & the Megaverse - Collector's Masterwork Limited Edition - The price on this one was $125. Each copy of this includes an original piece of artwork from John Zelznik, which makes each one a unique collector's item. The print run on this is very small, between 100 and 180 copies printed.
- Rifts & the Megaverse - The Art of John Zelznik - The price on this one was $22.95. I was also able to find a hardcover edition of this same book for $50.
- Robotech Shadow Chronicles RPG - Gold Edition - This was listed for $70.
The closest thing to an in-print collector's edition of the core rulebook for Rifts that I could find on their website was Rifts Ultimate Edition, but it's not what I would call a collector's edition. It's just their core rulebook.
Rift Collector's Edition Video Game
On Amazon, you can find a video game called Rift Collector's Edition. This video game has nothing to do with the Palladium RPG with the similar name. I can't speak to whether or not it's a good video game, but someone who's looking for an RPG based on the Palladium property is bound to be disappointed.
